The Disappearance of D'Wan Sims

The disappearance of D'wan Sims has baffled police for years. On December 11, 1994 D'wan was reported missing by his mother at the Wonderland Mall in Livonia, Michigan though security tapes showed no signs of the child ever having been there. The last known sighting of the boy was at a laundromat in Detroit earlier that day.

The child's mother Dwanna Harris failed two polygraphs and Livonia Police doubted her story from the beginning. Mrs. Harris (now Jackson) claimed that the Susan Smith case and racism contributed to the lack of progress in the case as well as the fact that it was being treated as a murder investigation focused on her instead of an outside abduction.

Further complicating the process was the fact that Dwanna's mother, Beverly Harris, had taken out a life insurance policy on D'wan a few months before his disappearance though no connection to foul play has been publicly attributed to her.

The case remains open and active though very few new leads have surfaced.
